Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Religiös begründeter Extremismus
In November 2016, the Federal Working Group on Religious Reasoned Extremism (BAG RelEx) was founded. It provides a platform to publicize relevant activities, initiatives and projects in public and to create a social awareness of their necessity. The federal working group religiously based extremism networks civil society actors nationwide, represents their concerns to the state and political bodies and in society and promotes the exchange of expertise and cooperation.
Forschungs- und Beratungsstelle Terrorismus / Extremismus (FTE)
The Research Center Terrorism / Extremism (FTE) at the Federal Criminal Police Office, founded in 2003, deals with actors of terrorism and extremism, the social environment in which they operate, and the ideologies behind them. The RTD is researching with the aim of improving and developing the efficiency of anti-terrorism measures. She is also the contact for crime prevention in the area of terrorism and extremism. She participates in various federal and state project groups and in the working groups of police crime prevention of the federal states and the federal government. She contributes her scientific expertise to the development of targeted and effective prevention measures. At the Research Center Terrorism / Extremism, detectives and researchers from different social science disciplines work together. By combining police expertise and practical experience with scientific theory and methodology, research results are obtained that are closely related and of practical use to the police work.
Nationales Präventionsprogramm gegen islamistischen Extremismus (NPP)

Integration and Diversity (XENOS) (Integration und Vielfalt)

Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre (ITAC)
ITAC is the only federal organization that is specifically tasked to analyze the terrorist threat to Canada and Canadian interests abroad. ITAC assessments are based on classified and public information, some of which is provided by partners in Canada and abroad. ITAC’s assessments focus on the ongoing threats posed by potential terrorist activity, including to special events, both in Canada and internationally (i.e. the Olympics and G8/G20 conferences). Of note, ITAC is responsible for assessing and recommending the National Terrorism Threat Level, which is updated regularly. This tool is used by the government and law enforcement agencies to mitigate the potential effects of terrorism incidents in Canada and abroad.
Intgegrated National Security Enforcement Teams
The RCMP has refocused its National Security Investigations Sections (NSIS) to become Integrated National Security Enforcement Teams (INSETs) in major centres throughout the country. The purpose for this is to increase the capacity for the collection, sharing and analysis of intelligence among partners with respect to individuals and entities that are a threat to national security and; create an enhanced investigative capacity to bring such individuals and entities to justice; and enhance partner agencies collective ability to combat national security threats and meet all specific mandate responsibilities, consistent with the laws of Canada and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. INSETs are made up of representatives of the RCMP, federal partners and agencies such as Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), and provincial and municipal police services. In addition to the newest one in Alberta, with offices in Edmonton/Calgary, INSETs exist in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. The mandate of INSETs is to: 1. Increase the capacity to collect, share and analyze intelligence among partners, with respect to targets (individuals) that are threat to national security. 2. To create an enhanced enforcement capacity to bring such targets to justice. 3. Enhance partner agencies' collective ability to combat national security threats and meet specific mandate responsibilities.
