- Addressing the phenomena of foreign terrorist fighters and returnees;
- The use and abuse of the internet by terrorists;
- The roles of women and children in terrorism;
- links between terrorism and organised crime (to be addressed in cooperation with the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC))
Coordination Patterns
The CDCT meets twice annually with all Member States to agree the strategic direction of the Committee's work. Additional thematic workshops on terrorism are held throughout the year.
Role of the EU
The Council of Europe brings together governments from across Europe, including all EU Member States to agree minimum legal standards in a wide range of areas. The Council of Europe (COE) and the European Union, to help them do so.
Relevance for the EU
All EU Member States are Members of the COE and therefore the EU regularly refers to Council of Europe standards and monitoring work in its dealings with neighbouring countries, many of which are Council of Europe member states.
